Scrap metal sculptures

This section features sculptures made almost entirely from reclaimed metal. Recycled metal is a fascinating material to collect and work with when creating upcycled art. It can be found everywhere, and depending on its nature, it can be extremely strong—ideal for building the skeletal structures of sculptures—or more flexible.
The thickness of the wire brings varying degrees of structure to the creature’s body, allowing for either a rough or more refined aesthetic.
Finally, the color of the reclaimed metal and its state of wear contribute to the overall style and final appearance. Working with it is a deeply tactile experience, sometimes requiring subtle adjustments, and other times demanding forceful bending.
Recycled metal evokes the robotic, inorganic, and ultimately cold aspect of human creation. It has allowed mankind to refine its tools, yet despite its durability, it is not immune to the passage of time. Playing with this material to restore a sense of life to it is an exciting challenge. Each piece of reclaimed metal contributes to the birth of a creature that breaks free from its creator to live a new life.
Among the pieces of iron, steel, and other metals I collect, there are many wires, metal hangers, bolts, screws, nuts, plumbing parts, mesh, nails, lighter components, small plates from electronic devices, hair clips, zipper elements, can tabs, and more… essentially anything I can get my hands on.
In these creations, there is no welding—only hand-worked metal. These sculptures are therefore built in a surprisingly organic way: a solid skeleton (most often made from metal hangers), wire shaping the body, and a kind of outer skin formed from various metal elements that give the character its identity and style. It is a succession of individual parts that ultimately come together as a whole.
Stop throwing things away—create your own creatures. :)
